Let us now understand about 'Food Pyramid' which helps in planning a balanced diet. Food pyramid is a graphical (triangular) representation of the different food groups and the optimal quantity in which they should be consumed each day. It is developed to make healthy eating easier.
The pyramid is broadly divided into four separate levels based on the nutrients provided by each food group. The base of the pyramid represents the foods which could be consumed in liberal amounts while tip of the pyramid represents the foods which should be avoided or consumed in limited quantities.
