The Food Safety Department conducts surveillance drives to collect samples of food for quality assurance and control to check adulteration/food fraud/counterfeit food products etc. Cities, can, similarlyconduct such drives with the Food Safety Department and further focus on development of local intelligence to identify commodities, hot spots and trends in adulterated food products.Cities may also ensure thatin case of packaged goods, only those that have FSSAI licence number indicated on labels are allowed for sale.
