Eat Right Foundation Course - Week wise description of activities
Week | Activity | Description |
Week 1 | Food and Water Journal | Participants will be required to maintain a food and water journal for 5 weeks. The participants will write the amount of food and water they have consumed each day. This journal will be used for detailed dietary counselling that will be held in session 2. Only those with completed food and water journal would be entitled to dietary counselling. |
Week 2 | Grow your plant | Participants would be provided with seeds and pots. They will be required to grow the plants and take care of them throughout the duration of their stay in the academy. |
Week 3 | Eat Right Quiz | Participants would be divided in teams. Each team will participate in the Eat Right Quiz. The winning team will be awarded. |
Week 4 | Use of Food Safety Magic Box | Participants would be divided in groups. Each group will pick up one food commodity and test it for adulteration using food safety Magic Box [The activity would be done twice during the course]. |
Week 5 | Eat Right Skit | Participants would be divided in groups. Each group will prepare a five-minute skit on any component of eating right and present the same to the jury. |
Week 6 | Village Visit | During the village visit activity, participants will be required to collect one healthy recipe from the village they visit. The recipe must have locally available ingredients. |
Week 7 | India Day | Participants will be required to prepare a healthy regional recipe using millets/ regional ingredients other than wheat and rice. |
Week 8 | Use of Food Safety Magic Box | Participants will be divided in groups. Each group will pick up one food commodity and test it for adulteration using food safety Magic Box. |
Week 9 | Trekking week | During the trekking activity, participants will be required to identify locally available foods/ regional fruits and vegetables available/grown in the region/village they visit. |
Week 10 | Understanding Food Label | Participants will be required to pick up at least two packaged foods and read their nutrition labels carefully. The participants will classify the food product as healthy/unhealthy based on the nutrition information provided. |
Week 11 | How policy makers can make India follow Eat Right – The Next Steps: Group Presentation | At the end of the course the participants will be divided in groups, they will have to present how policy makers can make India follow Eat Right- the next steps. Presentations by groups (5 minutes for each group) |
Week 12 | Eat Right Champion Award | The Eat Right Champion Awards will recognize participants following the true spirit of Eating right. Individuals would be evaluated by a special jury and will be felicitated as Eat Right Champions. |
